10 Sha`ban 1420 A.H., 18 November 1999
Usamah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he had asked the Prophet (peace
be upon him) about the reason why does he observe Fast for as much days as he can in the
month of Sha`ban. Thereupon, the Messenger (peace be upon him) said,
"Sha`ban is a month which people do not heed, and it is a month in which people's acts are
raised to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and I like that my acts be raised to Allah while I am
fasting."

1. Sha`ban is a meritorious month.
2. Observing Fast in Sha`ban is an act of virtue.
3. The Prophet (peace be upon him) teaches his nation to observe supererogatory Fasting.
