6 Jumada Al-Thani 1421 A.H., September 5, 2000

On the authority of `Uthman bin `Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) who reported that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying:
When the time for a prayer is established and a Muslim performs ablution properly, and after it bows down and prostrates himself in prayer with humility, it will be an expiation for his past sins, as long as he has not committed great sins, and this is for ever.

(Reported by Muslim)

Lessons Deduced:
- One should take interest in performing the five stated prayers, performing ablution well, submitting during their performance and taking enough time in bowing down and in prostration so that they may be accepted by Allah. In this way prayers expiate minor sins.
