22 Jumada Al-Awwal 1421 A.H., August 22,2000

On the authority of `A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) who reported:
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) offered the Witr prayer in the beginning, middle or later part of night. He, however, used to accomplish his Witr prayer before dawn.

(Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Lessons Deduced:
1. The time of the Witr begins from Al-`Isha' [Night] prayer until true dawn is assured.
2. A Muslim should be very keen to follow the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him).
3. The time of the Witr prayer extends after `Isha' prayer until the rise of the true dawn.
